The IEEE WIECON-ECE 2018 conference/50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The EE-KU is celebrating fitty yearsleading center of teaching and research in electrical related technology and innovation. To celebrate the 50th anniversary in 2019, EE-KU will host a major conferment earlier at the end this year (14-16 December 2018).
The department in collaboration with IEEE Bangladesh and IEEE Thailand Section is organizing the IEEE international Women in Engineer (WIE) Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE). The conference will be held in Pataya, Chonburi, Thailand on 14-16 December 2018. The conference aims at bring together leading academic researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. It also provides an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Electrical and Computer Engineering. With the view to encourage participation of women scholars, each paper should have at least one female author.
The first IEEE WIECON-ECE was held in 2015 at Dhaka, Bangladesh and the second one was held at Pune, India. IEEE WIECON-ECE 2015 was organized by IEEE Bangladesh Section and its WIE Affinity Group. The conference received overwhelming response from 22 countries (390 valid submissions). There were 6 world-class keynote talks, four invited talks, one industrial panel, 15 parallel oral sessions, 2 poster sessions, two special sessions, three tutorials, one workshop, one WIE meeting, and a pre-conference student competition. Presidents of two IEEE Societies, President Elect of one IEEE Society, Chair of IEEE WIE, IEEE R10 Director, IEEE R8 Director Elect, two coordinators of IEEE R10, different section chairs of R10, 6 IEEE Fellows and around 90 foreign delegates were present in the conference. IEEE president-elect 2016, R10 director-elect 2016 and many other regional and global distinguished IEEE and WIE leaders sent their messages.
IEEE WIECON-ECE 2016 was jointly organized by IEEE Pune section and IEEE Bangladesh Section and their respective WIE Affinity Groups. It was supported as a special event of global WIE and R10 WIE also rendered its support. The conference received 225 papers from 10 countries in 8 tracks. There were 7 world-class keynote talks (2 IEEE Fellows), 4 invited talks, 4 tutorials, 8 technical tracks, 1 humanitarian technology track, 1 industrial track by CISCO, 1 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Session, 1 Humanitarian Project Competition (40 projects received). IEEE WIE Chair 2017, IEEE WIE Chair 2011-12 and founding Chair, IEEE SIGHT were present. IEEE President 2016, IEEE president 2017, IEEE PES President-Elect 2017, IEEE WIE Chair 2016, IEEE R10 director 2016 and many other regional and global distinguished IEEE and WIE leaders sent their messages. The conference was a mega successful event for the second time. All presented papers of IEEE WIECON-ECE 2015 and 2016 are now available in IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
The 2017 IEEE International Women in Engineering (WIE) Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE 2017) was organized on 18-19 December at Women Institute of Technology, Dehradun, Uttarkhand, India. It brought together individuals conducting research and professional activities in the area of ECE to share and present their latest innovation and findings. The IEEE WIECON-ECE 2017 was jointly organized by IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section and IEEE Bangladesh Section and their respective WIE Affinity Groups. IEEE R10 WIE also rendered its support for this conference.
